Woodbridge – Mayor John E. McCormac today announced that the Woodbridge Township Police Department (WPD) responded to 43 complaints of illegal fireworks on July 4th, issued three summonses to residents identified as possessing illegal fireworks, and confiscated more than 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks from various locations throughout the Township.
“Illegal fireworks are extremely dangerous. Each year, area hospitals treat residents who have been seriously injured or maimed while setting-off illegal fireworks. And, illegal fireworks endanger the safety and welfare of entire neighborhoods when used recklessly by individuals who are not permitted to possess fireworks.

Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and Woodbridge Township Mayor John McCormac announced Monday that the House of Representatives will soon pass legislation that includes Lance’s request for $500,000 to upgrade the Woodbridge Police Department’s communications capabilities. This federal investment would help the township expand its ongoing comprehensive first-responder communications upgrade.
