Woodbridge Township Health Director Dennis Green reports that the Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services has administered more than 5,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine to at-risk and priority populations as identified by the New Jersey Department of Health & Human Services and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and to the general public.
H1N1 vaccine has been administered to children under the age of 18 with underlying medical conditions or illness; pre-school children; pregnant women; health care workers; emergency medical technicians and providers; caregivers of children less than 6-months old; elementary school-age children attending Woodbridge Township public and parochial schools; and Woodbridge middle and high school students/young adults under the age of 18.
The Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services reminds that parents must complete a consent form and accompany pre-school, elementary and middle school children to the Health Department clinics. Consent forms have been distributed to public school students in letters from the Woodbridge Township School District and the Department of Health & Human Services, or are available at the Township Health Department. The consent forms must be completed by the parent(s) and the parent(s)/student must present the signed authorization consent when receiving the H1N1 vaccination.
"Vaccination remains our most effective tool to prevent the flu," Green said. "Remember to continue to practice good public health. Wash hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes with tissue or sleeve and stay home if sick.”
