Woodbridge – The Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services will administer H1N1 vaccine to Woodbridge public school students 18 years-of-age and under with an underlying illness or medical condition at a clinic scheduled on Fri., Nov. 20 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Woodbridge Township Health Center (2 George Frederick Plaza). 

The Woodbridge Township Board of Education and Office of Superintendent advise that public school students 18 years of age and under who meet the eligibility criteria of an underlying illness of medical condition and who wish to receive the vaccine should plan to attend the Health Department clinic.  The vaccination is voluntary.  Parents must accompany the child and must complete a consent form.  There is no charge for the vaccination.

Health Director Dennis Green noted that the Woodbridge Township Department of Health & Human Services received 1,400 doses of H1N1 vaccine (of the more than 14,000 doses ordered) and is administering the vaccine to at-risk and priority populations as identified by the New Jersey Department of Health & Human Services and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) – priority groups include children under the age of 18 with underlying medical conditions or illness, pre-school children and pregnant women.  The Woodbridge Department of Health & Human Services previously provided vaccine to children aged six months to five years, pregnant women and students in non-public schools. 

Mayor John E. McCormac and School Superintendent Dr. John Crowe, noted that letters and information regarding the distribution of the H1N1 vaccine to public school students 18 years-of-age with underlying medical conditions or illness was distributed to parents earlier this week.  Parents are encouraged to review the information and attend the Fri., Nov. 20 Health Department clinic to have at-risk children vaccinated.
