Mayor John E. McCormac today announced the official opening of Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge.
The 10,000 square ft. facility, located at 740 Route 1 North in Iselin, provides high-quality, urgent, non-emergent care, preventive health screenings and vaccinations. It is also home to Bay Obstetrics and Gynecology and comprehensive physical therapy services. The urgent care and preventive health components are available seven days a week including holidays and signify Raritan Bay Medical Center’s expansion into retail (or convenience) medicine.
“At a time when governmental, influential clinicians and professional health organizations are advising Americans to place greater emphasis on preventive medicine and better management of their chronic health conditions Raritan Bay Medical Center is providing area residents without a primary care physician a medical home for this care at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge,” said hospital President and CEO Michael R. D’Agnes. “Additionally, the convenience of walk-in appointments for urgent, non-emergent care eliminates the need to seek the same care in a more expensive and time-consuming emergency room setting.”
D’Agnes also said that pavilion clinicians will be able to refer patients who need specialty care, advanced diagnostic testing or surgery to RBMC, providing continuity of care by a full service hospital known for high-quality outcomes.
Urgent care, provided by a physician or nurse practitioner, is available with or without an appointment Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sundays and holidays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We take care of all common injuries such as cuts (including stitches and their removal), and ankle, knee, finger and head injuries suffered at home or work. In addition, and without a prior appointment, we can treat all medical conditions requiring immediate attention such as colds, sore throat, pink eye, ear and sinus infections as well as chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, allergies, digestive disorders and more,” said Michael Cali, MD, FACEP, medical director of First Health, the urgent care practice at the Medical Pavilion at Woodbridge.
“Patients can also get school and employment physicals and vaccinations and be checked for high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol, always on a walk-in basis and without an appointment," Dr. Cali said. "We also have our own X-ray suite and we will arrange for patients to have any needed MRI or CAT scan done quickly off-site.”
Dr. Cali, who is board certified in emergency medicine, stressed that those with cardiac chest pain, sudden weakness or other signs of stroke should always first seek treatment at the hospital’s emergency room. The pavilion’s urgent care center number is 732-726-0011.

Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted. Free blood pressure screenings are available during urgent care hours every day. An array of breast cancer support programs will be offered through the physical therapy component of the pavilion beginning in March.
